In the last week of the project I realised I’ve been trying to do too much, too fast and there was no benefit to rushing as I’m continuing the project indefinitely. It’s also winter (cold!) so time to refine and get ready for some spring action.
- a moment of connection
Connecting with others outside of the residency has been really great. I didn’t get to go to Biella, but felt more and more comfortable in the Zoom breakout rooms having reflective, interesting and sometimes funny conversations with the others.
- any tools / methods / resources to share
Fail sometimes. Don’t make your brief’s too open to interpretation and don’t assume everyone will be receptive to your ideas. Connect meaningfully with others.
- a question you are left with
Should embedded practice be an aspiration? Should every community (workplaces, towns, cities etc) have an artist in residence?
- something you will carry forward
Keeping in touch with other artists for vital conversations. When this dialogue is not a part of your week, it is easy to loose your focus, to start doubting and to feel alone.
