I’m an artist based in Manila, the Philippines. I have produced several artistic projects in Southeast Asian cities, and these projects have strengthened the collaborative and cooperative aspect of my artmaking. These projects include one-on-one story-making sessions, DIY fashion workshops, and a found-object sculpture promoting sustainable tourism (locations - Manila, Greater Jakarta, Kuala Lumpur, Bangkok, Chiang Khan in Thailand). I have a background in economics, Southeast Asian studies and fashion, which inform the development of my practice.
For this residency, I will be developing work that is centered on creative acts of kindness. The work will also partly serve as a personal reminder for why I continue to engage in socially-engaged art.
I’m interested in learning about models of collaboration, in learning about the diverse practices within our cohort. And I am hopeful to create new connections.

Calling the tapestry series a “collection” brings attention to the care and work that goes into developing, growing, maintaining, and showing a “collection”. Among the next steps are to continue gathering acts of kindness and build a digital home for the series.
