- I realized at some point within the seminars, that it was better to always divide your artistic persona to an artistic team, that way you could get thing done easily and well.
- I feel more connected to what PLoT is doing and I’m looking forward to connecting more with Sophie Minervini and her Rachel for more insight to their projects
- I have been reading “One place After Another” by Miwon Kwon. It’s a text that has really shaped my thoughts on community works and artistic interventions within spaces and places. I will love to recommend for everyone to read it.
- the only questions I’m left with are the same that I came in with.
How can we create New Masters?
How can we make these interventions independently without relying on Funding?
How sustainable is what we are doing within these communities?
Can the people continue even when the Artist leaves?
- I will carry the attitude of sharing along. Sharing of information, networks, and knowledge is very vital in the residency and I’m willing to carry it along and hopefully share with others
My name is Hassan Issah, a Ghanaian Artist who lives and work in Kumasi. Currently a final Year MFA student in KNUST-Kumasi. i am also an active member of the blaxTARLINES artist community based in Kumasi within the collage of Art and Built environment.

im happy to be a part of this residency as it gives me the opportunity to share some of the blaxTARLINES Art/itudes towards art making (in a communal spirit) with you all. questions like the role of an artist in the building of communities will lead some of my engagements over the period of the residency.

How do we push Art from the point of commodity to a gift (in this i will share how artists like my self and some other colleagues of mine are using the proceeds from their works to build institutions that are gifted to local communities), and how artist re/inventing, re/imagining and re/appropriating spaces.

These questions have been tested and tried and in reality, and im looking forward to sharing with you some of the outcomes. looking forward to meeting you all and i'm excited about this and the future project that will emerge in our meetings. ONE LOVE
